I have a couple dream jobs. First, I want to be an international correspondent for a magazine or a newspaper. Second, I want to be the editor-in-chief of a magazine. Third, I want to take over said magazine. Finally, when I retire from the industry, I want to become an English teacher.

I hope to be able to become a good editor and understand the overall editing and journalism world. Becoming an editor is what I want to do after I graduate, so this class will most likely help me discover whether or not I will like the job, and it will help prepare me for it. I also am interested in graphic design and creating/editing layouts for magazines and websites. A background in editing always helps.

I want to learn as much about the profession of journalism as I can while I still have the chance before delving into it myself, if I do end up in the field. In any case my hope is to put myself into the shoes of my future bosses, to figure out what I need to do to create a journalistic product that meets their standards, as they would pretty much be in charge of my livelihood. Also maybe deflating my ego a little bit would be nice, and probably beneficial for future endeavors.
I have no ****ing idea what my dream job is. Concert pianist, rockstar, socialite, photographer for National Geographic, fashion photographer, supermodel, rogue billionaire--any of these would be acceptable. I'd love to have a steady job meeting interesting people, traveling to cool places, and collecting and writing stories about interesting things. Mental Floss magazine, something like that. I've also decided that working at a daily local newspaper would probably eat me alive, and does not fall under the 'dream job' category. Historically speaking, it has eaten me alive, which is why I know this.
